• Winners of Mall of Qatar’s art competition revealed

Under the motto What Qatar means to you, 11 schools participated in Mall of Qatar’s initiative to show their creativity, talent and love for Qatar. During a ceremony held on Friday December 14th in the mall’s luxury court, Stuart Elder, CEO of Mall of Qatar, announced the 4 winners who secured cash prizes for their schools of QAR 5,000 (1st place) QAR 2,500 (2nd place) QAR 1,000 (3rd place) and QAR 500 (People’s Choice Award). While the first 3 winners were selected by the mall’s management through criteria such as relevance to the theme, visual effectiveness and originality, the People’s Choice Award was selected by fans of Mall of Qatar’s Facebook page.

Doha College won the first place with an exceptional mixed-media fine art painting that encompasses the different regions of Qatar celebrating the diversity of each region. The second place was awarded to Qatar International School for a mind-blowing cubist image portraying the country’s vibrancy and the third place went to Doha British School for an artwork highlighting a variety of Islamic traditions.

“We have been amazed at the number of entries and talent that has been displayed – the judging has been a difficult, but extremely enjoyable process. We would like to thank all the schools and students for their time and effort. The competition will become an annual event which gives talented students the opportunity to have their artwork publicly displayed, celebrates Qatar National Day and connects Mall of Qatar with our community” said Stuart Elder, CEO of Mall of Qatar.

All the students’ original artworks can be seen in Mall of Qatar’s luxury court and different locations throughout December.

Happy National Day from the Nation’s mall.
